To help you get to know the Airteam a little better, we're putting them under the spotlight with a Q&A.
Next up is Beckie, our Social Media & Community Manager!
Firstly, what is your role at Airtime Rewards and what does it involve?
I’m the Social Media & Community Manager, which in a nutshell, means me and my team are responsible for the content across all social channels and making sure all of our members are happy and engaged!
Can you tell us about your Airtime Rewards journey?
I was the first marketing hire (other than our CMO) 5 years ago, so at the start I did a bit of everything, including writing our marketing emails, posting on social media and replying back to customer emails. Now the marketing team (and Airtime) has grown, I have a focus on the content and strategy for our social media channels.
What does a typical day as the Social Media & Community Manager at Airtime Rewards look like?
Typically I start my day by checking what content is going out for the day and then take a quick look at the social reports to see how the previous day has performed. I usually then check in with the other half of the social team (Louise) to discuss if there are any trends we can jump on (hello, Pedro Pascal!) or if there are any issues we need to act on. The rest of the day can vary from day to day, from doing general research, updating app assets, content approvals, Paid Social campaigns and any other ad hoc tasks!
What’s your favourite thing about your job?
I know it’s a cliche, but I love the people who I work with. You couldn’t meet a friendlier bunch! I also love the creativity of the role and seeing the impact it has on the business.
What has been your proudest achievement whilst working at Airtime?
It has to be growing the social channels from around 1,000 followers to nearly 100k!
What is the biggest challenge of working in Social Media?
Keeping up with the trends and ever-changing algorithms. We’ve started doing daily catchups to see what’s on everyone's feed so we don’t miss anything.
What’s your main piece of advice for someone looking to get into social media?
My main piece of advice would be gain experience. Whether that’s through an internship or starting your own personal blog. I got my foot in the door by writing my own personal blog and building my own personal online presence to prove that I could build a brand's online presence.
When not working at Airtime, what do you like to do?
Not many people know this, but I’m actually a bit of a gamer! If I’m not out and about with my friends in London, you’ll probably find me playing on my Nintendo Switch or reading a book. I also love to travel when I have the time; I’m trying to tick off all the European cities!
And finally, why should everyone be using Airtime Rewards?
I always use the phrase, ‘why not?!’. It’s free and so simple to use! I’ve earned over £500 since I’ve joined, and we have some amazing retailers on the app to earn rewards at.
